A three-coordinate iron–silylene complex stabilized by ligand–ligand dispersion forces

The structural and bonding properties of a three-coordinate N-heterocyclic silyene (NHSi) complex of the iron(II) amide [Fe{N(SiMe3)2}2] are reported. Computational studies reveal that dispersion forces between the amido SiMe3 substituents and the isopropyl substituents on the NHSi ligand significantly enhance the stability of the complex, along with Fe-to-Si π-backbonding.

Contrasting biogeographical patterns in Margarella (Gastropoda: Calliostomatidae: Margarellinae) across the Antarctic Polar Front

International audience; Members of the trochoidean genus Margarella (Calliostomatidae) are broadly distributed across Antarctic and sub-Antarctic ecosystems. Here we used novel mitochondrial and nuclear gene sequences to clarify species boundaries and phylogenetic relationships among seven nominal species distributed on either side of the Antarctic Polar Front (APF). Anthropogenic disturbance often causes changes in communities. However, the mechanistic basis of these changes remains elusive. As all patterns in community ecology can be understood as a result of four processes (speciation, selection, drift, and dispersal), the effect of disturbance should depend on how disturbance disrupt these processes. Solid microcrystalline dispersion films as a new strategy to improve the dissolution rate of poorly water soluble drugs: A case study using olanzapine

In this study, we evaluate the dissolution rate enhancement of solid microcrystalline dispersion (SMD) films of olanzapine (OLZ) formulated with four water-soluble polymers namely poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP), poloxamer 188 (P188), poloxamer 407 (P407) and Soluplus(®) (SLP). Prepared formulations were characterised to determine particle size, morphology, hydrogen bonding interactions, thermal characteristics as well as in vitro dissolution studies conducted under sink conditions (pH 6.8). Administered by an oral route, Furosemide (FUR), a diuretic used in several edematous states and hypertension, presents bioavailability problems, reported as a consequence of an erratic gastrointestinal absorption due to various existing polymorphic forms and low and pH-dependent solubility. A mucoadhesive sublingual fast-dissolving FUR based film has been developed and evaluated in order to optimize the bioavailability of FUR by increasing solubility and guaranteeing a good dissolution reproducibility. Vacuum-ultraviolet absorption of interstitial O2 and H2O molecules in SiO2 glass

Abstract Vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) absorption of O 2 and H 2 O molecules incorporated in interstitial voids in SiO 2 glass by thermal annealings was examined. Interactions of the interstitial molecules with the surrounding SiO 2 glass network lead to a redshift of the VUV absorption band of interstitial O 2 , while a blueshift of that of interstitial H 2 O, both accompanied by an increase in the intensity of the absorption bands. The Coulomb repulsion, London dispersion, and hydrogen bonding are the main interactions responsible for the modification of the VUV absorption bands.

The influence of conditional conservatism on ownership dispersion: An international analysis

ABSTRACTWe study the influence of conditional accounting conservatism on domestic investor diversification decisions. We argue that a conservative accounting system that promotes the dissemination of bad news and which constrains managers from engaging in opportunistic activities reduces the need for investors to concentrate their ownership, and consequently helps investors to diversify their investments. Through a country-level analysis we show that increased domestic conditional conservatism and higher domestic diversification opportunities lead to higher levels of domestic ownership diversification. Two Novel Deletions (Array CGH Findings) in Pigment Dispersion Syndrome

Purpose: We report the first male with pigment dispersion syndrome and a balanced translocation t(10;15)(p11.1;q11.1). Methods: Cytogenetic analyses using Giemsa banding and FISH methods, and array CGH were performed. Results: Array CGH analyses did not show altered DNA sequences in the breakpoints of the translocation, but revealed two novel deletions in 2q22.1 and 18q22.1. Conclusion: We suppose that the coexistence of t(10;15) and pigment dispersion syndrome in our patient is a coincidence. The deletion in 2q22.1, where the gene LRP1B has been located, may play a major role in the dysembryogenesis of the eye and cause the disorder.
